Did You Know?

  • Important Info to Know :   I have not heard of this before....so important to know!!!    Please pass on to all your friends and family.   Many of us have seen this previously, and I knew there was a hand signal for help… but,  I’ll admit I had forgotten how it’s done. I’m thankful for the review.   Especially if you have children, you might consider training them what this means. If I had kids at home I would signal this back and forth with my kids AT HOME for several days to imprint it. Muscle memory works.  Elder brains, not so much.  This isn’t just for kids and grands.   This may save someone from harm or possibly even save their life. Men women and children need to recognize this signal as it may save someone's life.  Pass this on to your friends and family, old and young, specially children and women.

The Center for Compassionate Care Innovation supports treatments that may help Veterans with PTSD

Experiencing a life-threatening event, such as combat, can lead to developing posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). According to Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) data, Veteran rates of PTSD range from 11% to 30%, depending on the service era. In collaboration with experts at VA hospitals, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Center for Compassionate Care Innovation (CCI) is exploring the use of two promising treatment options that may help Veterans counter the effects of PTSD: hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and stellate ganglion block (SGB).

As communities around the country continue to re-open, you may have questions about when to resume in-person visits with your healthcare providers, and what to expect during a visit. Always check with your doctor to see what's best for your healthcare needs.

Here are some considerations for in-person visits:

  • Don't put off necessary care, especially if it's urgent or may lead to complications, such as heart attack or stroke.
  • Continue preventive care such as immunizations and cancer screenings.
  • Providers and facilities will minimize exposure, so you may experience some changes during your visit.  For More Info

Visit Medicare.gov to learn more, and reach out to your healthcare provider if you have questions about when and how to seek treatment. Consider telehealth or virtual visits with your doctor if you're at high risk for complications from COVID-19.
If you must visit in-person, check out this information from the CDC to help you protect yourself and others.

Pharmacies across the Military Health System are adapting their prescription services to protect high-risk patients and pharmacy customers and staff from COVID-19 exposure. Responding to Defense Health Agency guidance on prescribing during COVID and state and local stay-at-home and social-distancing requirements, pharmacies are finding ways to get patients their prescriptions with minimal patient-staff interaction. Each pharmacy tailors solutions to fit their physical layout, staffing capacity, and patient populations, resulting in what one patient described as “great, innovative ideas for short-term solutions.”
